militaryuniforms:

I colourized a picture of Jans Joachim Marseilles, because…why not? Here’s what it looked like originally:

It’s my first attempt at colourizing a photo, and I think it turned out rather well on the whole. I can definitely spot things that I can do better next time, though. It was quite fun, so if you want a picture colourized (WWI/WWII military portraits preferably), send me a picture (or a request for a specific person, rank, whatever) and I might just do it. :]
Aaand some further pictures and info on Jans Joachim Marseilles (often called “Jochen”) and his impressive record as an ace Luftwaffe fighter pilot:

Above, we see him exiting the cockpit of one of the planes he flew in combat (likely W.Nr.10137).

Here, JG27 ground crew adds a victory mark to the tail rudder of W.Nr.10137, one of Jochen’s planes.

In the photo above, you can see a member of JG27’s ground crew posing with Jochen’s tail rudder, bearing marks for the full 158 aerial victories he achieved before his death (the plane is W.Nr.8673).

And here is one last image of Jochen, tying on a scarf before test flying a new Messerschmitt plane model.
Photos and plane identification from here.

This is so very excellent!! How can you even!
