Yep, he was. The first photo is of him on his horse “Antithesis” in the winter of 1914-15, and the one below I think is from before the war (but don’t take my word on that).

This is a young-ish Manfred. I’ve read somewhere this may be from his first day as leader of Jasta 11.

I translated it to the best of my ability, with strange or difficult to translate phrases paraphrased, and translated literally in brackets. (I do this stuff for my work, so this procedure is automatic)

I still had some left over photocopies from that book in the Bremen library I hadn’t posted. This one is properly scanned too.
I’ve never seen this one before. Youtube videos with photos in them are full of things unknown.
